Ondangwa's annual cleaning campaign starts

Ondangwa residents started their annual cleaning campaign on Monday, heeding President Hage Geingob’s call for Namibians to engage in an official cleaning operation on 21 September as from 2018.
The Ondangwa Town Council every year runs a cleaning competition among local schools and residents of the informal settlements to teach school children about tidiness and encourage daily cleaning and hygiene in all localities.

Omusati, Kunene, Khomas regional structures exit Nanso

The Omusati, Kunene and Khomas regional structures of the Namibia National Students Organisation (Nanso) along with their tertiary institutional branches on Wednesday withdrew from the student formation.
The representatives from the three regional structures and tertiary institutional branches said this decision was a result of the continuous infighting of the Nanso national executive committee (NEC) and suspension of some of its members.

Zimbabwe's former president Robert Mugabe dies in Singapore

Mugabe died in Singapore, where he has often received medical treatment in recent years, a source with direct knowledge of the matter told Reuters.

Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa confirmed the former president passing on Twitter.

“It is with utmost sadness that I announce the passing of Zimbabwe’s founding father and former president, Robert Mugabe,” the tweet said.

“[Mugabe] was an icon of liberation, a pan-Africanist who dedicated his life to the emancipation and empowerment of his people.

Health Ministry to build clinic in Kombat: Shangula

In light of reports of Government renting a house at Kombat that it uses as the local clinic, Minister of Health and Social Services (MoHSS), Dr Kalumbi Shangula, said there are plans to build a clinic for the Kombat community.
In an interview with Nampa here on Thursday, Shangula, without giving a date, said the clinic would be built at an already-identified site as soon as the MoHSS secures external funding to ease the State from the financial responsibility of the current rental costs.
