Felesianu loses WBO title fight

Albinius ‘Danny Boy’ Felesianu lost to Zimbabwe’s Peter Pambeni by a majority decision in their 12-round Lightweight World Boxing Organisation (WBO) vacant African title at Ramatex, Windhoek on Saturday during Salute Boxing Academy’s ‘Clash of the Titans’ boxing bonanza.
Pambeni dominated his opponent landing more punches to the body and head, while the Namibian landed the most of the heavier punches leading to the Zimbabwean losing his tooth.
Two judges scored the fight in favour of the Zimbabwean while one scored it in favour of the Namibian.

Karundu PS receives chairs and desks donation

A donation of 442 new chairs and 100 tables to the Karundu Primary School (PS) at Otjiwarongo on Wednesday is expected to drastically reduce pressure on learners who have been sharing chairs and desks at the school.
The chairs and desks are worth more than N.dollars 250 000 and were donated by the Otjikoto B2Gold Mine situated about 70 kilometres north of Otjiwarongo.
School principal, Julia Chaka, at the event said learners at her school have been sharing chairs and tables for nearly three years now due to the high enrolment rate.

Carl Frampton: 'Freak' hand injury forces Belfast boxer out of Emmanuel Dominguez fight

Carl Frampton says a large ornament was knocked over on to his hand in a "freak accident" - forcing him to pull out of his fight against Emmanuel Dominguez.

Saturday's bout in Philadelphia, USA was due to be Frampton's first since December's defeat by Josh Warrington.

In a statement on social media, the Northern Irishman said he has broken a bone and is "absolutely devastated".

The 32-year-old Belfast boxer also posted a video of the aftermath of the incident in his hotel lobby.

Transcontinental Race: Germany's Fiona Kolbinger becomes first female winner of endurance race

Germany's Fiona Kolbinger has beaten more than 200 men to become the first woman to win the Transcontinental Race, cycling more than 2,485 miles across Europe in just over 10 days.

The cancer researcher, 24, endured thunderstorms, scorching heat and icy rain in the solo race, which took her from Burgas, Bulgaria to Brest in north west France via five other countries.

After finishing in a time of 10 days, two hours and 48 minutes, Kolbinger says she could have "gone harder", adding: "I could have slept less."

Laurent Koscielny: Arsenal defender set to join Bordeaux

Arsenal have agreed a deal to sell defender Laurent Koscielny to Ligue 1 side Bordeaux for a fee of up to 5m euros (£4.6m).

The 33-year-old centre-back is having a medical on Tuesday before completing a return to France after nine years with the Premier League club.

Frenchman Koscielny had a year left on his contract at Emirates Stadium and the Gunners wanted him to stay.

But he asked for a free transfer and refused to travel on a pre-season tour.
