Immanuel Naidjala lost on a third round TKO to Jason Moloney on Saturday.

JASON Moloney retained his Commonwealth bantamweight title with a controversial third-round stoppage of Namibian pugilist Immanuel Naidjala in Victoria, Australia on Saturday.

The Australian scored a technical knockout victory after the referee stopped the fight, deciding that Naidjala could not withstand a barrage of punches from Moloney, even though the Namibian claims to have been unhurt and was protecting himself, and wanted to continue.

Moloney moves up to 16 wins from as many outings, with Naidjala, who has possibly missed a last chance at glory, dropping to five defeats in 24 fights.

“It was a premature stoppage,” was all a dispirited Naidjala could tell The Namibian Sport after the fight.

His promoter Nestor Tobias said he did not watch the fight, and was waiting on a report from Naidjala's trainer.

“Unfortunately, I didn't see the fight, so I cannot really comment on it. I heard the referee stopped the fight because Naidjala was not fighting back. I can only say something when I get the full report from his coach Joseph [ Antindi]. They'll arrive later today,” Tobias said on Sunday.
