A 58-year-old woman died in a car accident on the Oshivelo-Tsumeb road on Friday.
A crime report issued by the Namibian Police Force on Monday said the vehicle she was travelling in overturned around 16h40 some 40 kilometres outside Oshivelo.
It is alleged that the driver, who is a lecturer at the University of Namibia’s Ogongo campus, lost control over the vehicle, which then left the road and overturned.
The sedan had four occupants, including the driver.
The deceased has been identified as Martha Nepembe, whose next of kin have been informed.
The 50-year-old driver and a 31-year-old woman were admitted to the Tsumeb State Hospital with serious injuries.
Meanwhile, an eight-year-old boy died in the Tsumeb State Hospital after he reportedly jumped off a moving garbage truck and sustained head injuries.
It is alleged that the deceased and two other boys climbed onto the moving municipality truck while it was collecting garbage in Tsumeb’s Kuvukiland residential area without the driver’s knowledge on Saturday.
Two of the boys managed to jump off the truck unharmed, but the eight-year-old sustained severe injuries.
He died around 06h00 on Sunday.
